COOKIE POLICY
WWW.rust-depot.org
Effective Date: September 1, 2026
1. WHAT ARE COOKIES AND WHY WE USE THEM
1.1 Definition
Cookies, along with related technologies such as pixels, web beacons, and local storage, are small data files placed on your device when you visit rust-depot.org (the “Platform”). They allow us to recognize your browser, retain preferences, and improve your experience on the Site.
1.2 Duration Types
- Session Cookies: temporary files that are automatically deleted once you close your browser.
- Persistent Cookies: remain stored on your device for a set period, or until manually removed, so that we can recognize you on return visits.
1.3 Regulatory and Security Function
In addition to improving usability, some cookies are required to meet risk-monitoring, transaction verification, and AML/KYC obligations imposed by our banking and payment partners.
2. CATEGORIES OF COOKIES WE USE
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential to core Platform functions such as maintaining your shopping cart, processing checkout, and keeping you securely logged in. Because the Platform cannot function without them, these cookies do not require your prior consent.
2.2 Analytics Cookies
Tools such as Google Analytics collect aggregated, anonymized data about how visitors use the Site, helping us identify issues and improve performance. These cookies are only activated after you provide consent through our cookie banner.
2.3 Preference Cookies
These cookies remember settings you select, such as language or display preferences, to personalize your experience. They are only enabled with your explicit consent.
2.4 Advertising Cookies
These cookies track browsing activity across sites to enable targeted advertising and measure campaign performance. Use of these cookies is entirely optional and requires your prior consent.
3. THIRD PARTIES AND YOUR CONSENT
3.1 Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are set by external service providers, including fraud-prevention vendors, payment processors, and Steam/Valve API monitoring tools, which help verify transactions and detect potential threats.
3.2 Consent Banner
When you first visit the Platform from a new device or browser, a cookie banner will appear, allowing you to choose your preferences before any non-essential cookies are activated.
3.3 Managing Your Preferences
You can update or withdraw your cookie preferences at any time through the “Cookie Settings” link in the Site footer, or by adjusting your browser settings directly.
3.4 Effect of Withdrawing Consent
Opting out of analytics, preference, or advertising cookies will not affect your ability to browse or make purchases. However, cookies required for payment processing and fraud/AML compliance will remain active regardless of your preferences.
4. BROWSER CONTROLS AND YOUR RIGHTS
4.1 Browser Settings
Most browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) let you view, block, or delete cookies directly. Please be aware that blocking essential cookies may prevent the shopping cart, Steam API integration, or payment functions from working correctly.
4.2 Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to request information on what data is collected via cookies, how it is used, and to request that such processing be restricted.
4.3 Fraud Prevention Exception
To meet our obligations to payment providers and comply with anti-fraud regulations, cookies used for security and AML risk screening will remain active during checkout regardless of other preference settings.
